If you have been missing out on the promo fares and seat sales because you don’t have a passport, maybe it’s time you apply for one. Getting a Philippine Passport just got more convenient nowadays with the DFA online passport appointment process.
In this post, we will walk you thru the step by step guide on How to apply for a Philippine Passport.
Setting up an Online Passport Appointment
Go to www.passport.gov.ph and Click on “Schedule an Appointment”
It will give route you to a Page where you need to agree to the following Terms and Conditions:
Make sure you read the “Terms and Conditions” then put a check mark on the radio button. You can then schedule an appointment either for yourself or for a group of people.
You will be routed to the Online Form where you need to fill out a series of pages which includes the following:
For the first page, choose the DFA location that’s nearest or most convenient for you.
Once you choose a DFA site, the Office Address and Contact Info will automatically populate on the right. Hit on Next.
The next page allows you to choose the time and date.
Browse thru the dates and look for an available time slot that would suit your schedule. Click next.
After this you would need to enter your Personal Information and Family Information. Remember to fill out all the fields with Complete and Accurate information.
After completing this you would be routed to the Application Information page.
For Application Type, you need to choose between New Passport or Passport Renewal.
For Basis of Philippine Citizenship, choose from the drop down whether you became a Filipino Citizen thru birth, marriage, naturalization, or others.
After you fill in all the info and click Next, you will get to the last page where you enter your home and office address as well as contact information.
Before finally submitting the form, you will be asked to review all information. If all details are correct, make sure you tick the 2 radio buttons encircled in the following image and click on CONFIRM.
Shortly after, you will receive an email from DFA with the details of your appointment as well as some important instructions. Make sure you click on the link to confirm your chosen appointment.
Below is a section of a DFA Passport confirmation email sample.
Indicated as well on this email is the link where you can download a PDF copy of the passport application form you just filled out on the DFA website. Print this out and then prepare all the Philippine Passport required documents.
If you think you are not able to show up on your scheduled date, you can still cancel the appointment, granted you do this 3 working days prior to your chosen date. It is important to cancel your passport appointment properly as failure to do so and you failing to show up may cause issues on your future passport applications.
How to cancel your DFA Passport Appointment
Click on “Schedule an Appointment” and then go to “View Appointment”.
Enter the “Appointment Code” that was also included in your DFA email and then input your contact email address. Check the I’m not a Robot field then hit on “View Details”, the page that will show will give you a Cancel passport appointment option.
Step by Step Passport Processing Flow on the Actual Appointment Day
Passport Application Personal Appearance. Show up at the DFA location of your choice on your scheduled date, ,well before your chosen time. Make sure you are not late as latecomers will not be entertained. The DFA personnel at the door will only let in those scheduled at each particular interval making it a more organized and much smoother process.
First Window: Processing Area
This is where the DFA Customer Care Officer checks if you have all the required documents and the supporting validations. At this point, you will also be needing to choose between the 2 passport processing options:
- Passport Normal Processing Cost (20 working days) – Php 950
- Passport Express Processing Cost (10 working days) – Php 1200
Second Window: Cashier’s area
Pay the applicable Passport Fees to the Cashier then proceed to the next step
Third Window: Encoding & Passport Photo Capture
This is the Data Capturing section where a DFA personnel enters your personal details and biometric data into the system as well as take your Passport Photo. DFA does not have a required attire for passport photo, you just need to dress decently and you are good to go.
Final Step: Get your passport
There are two (2) options for this:
- Claim your Passport at the DFA location where you applied for it. This would need you to go back to that location after 10 or 20 working days, depending on the processing option you chose and paid for.
- Conveniently have your passport delivered right at your doorstep. If you choose this option, after they give you your receipt at the third window, just present this at the Delivery Counter available on each DFA location and pay the delivery fee. LBC is currently the chosen courier for passport delivery.
There you have it! Get that passport now and finally take advantage of those seat sales!
